Hello all!
My name is Matthew Bunch and I'm a senior at the University of Miami in Florida.
Although I’m studying broadcast journalism and economics, during my sophomore year I discovered that newspapers were my true calling. I worked my way up, taking the assignments others wouldn’t take, and somehow wound up as editor in chief of The Miami Hurricane, the finest student newspaper in all of the land.
I love journalism. I’ve always relished the opportunity to tell people news they haven’t heard yet. That may make me weird, but I think the work of a reporter is noble.
My focus, in case you haven’t deduced yet, is on sports journalism. Since I was eight years old, when I would grab the only section of the newspaper my grandmother wouldn’t read, I’ve been fascinated with the way sports stories are told. It’s all the passion, strategy and intensity of war without actual death or destruction. I’ve always been a fan and historian of sports, and nothing would make me happier than to make a living as a sports reporter.
